Fay Myers Motorcycle World is one of the largest motorcycle dealerships in the United States. Avid motorcyclist, Fay Myers, founded the company in Denver in 1948, when he decided to turn his hobby into a business. The company now carries vehicles, parts and accessories from Aprilia, Ducati, Honda, Kawasaki, KTM, MV Agusta, Polaris, Suzuki and Vespa.
- Struggled to maintain manual updates and management of its product listings
- Needed more time to efficiently scale its marketplace business
- Required an e-commerce solution to manage its marketplace sales and inventory
Fay Myers Motorcycle World found it challenging to manage its product listings on Amazon and eBay. As a motorcycle dealership with a comprehensive product catalog that includes 10 lines of motorcycles, parts and accessories, as well as apparel, management of all of its product listings on each marketplace proved time-consuming. The company had to manually upload its listings, make revisions every time changes occurred and update its inventory when items were ordered.
“We were finding that our success on Amazon and eBay was being bottlenecked just by the time it took to manage all of the things that come along with getting a product feed out to marketplaces,” said Michael Ritter, Fay Myers eCommerce director. “We started searching for a solution that would help us adapt.”
- ChannelAdvisor Marketplaces to use an automated system for managing product listings on Amazon and eBay
Fay Myers was introduced to ChannelAdvisor during its search for an e-commerce solution provider. After hearing how ChannelAdvisor’s technology could automate the process of selling online, Fay Myers started using ChannelAdvisor Marketplaces. With ChannelAdvisor, Fay Myers implemented an automated system to deliver its product feed to Amazon and eBay.
“During the evaluation process, we found that ChannelAdvisor was the most robust system to manage our marketplace business,” said Ritter.
With ChannelAdvisor, Fay Myers found it easier to remain up to speed with changes in the online retail landscape. When Amazon and eBay make changes, Fay Myers is now able to adapt quickly.
“Let’s say Amazon changes the way it expects a product to be sent to its platform. We can count on ChannelAdvisor to be on top of it and ready to help,” said Ritter.
ChannelAdvisor’s integrations with major online marketplaces has been beneficial to Fay Myers as it continues to advance into e-commerce. If the company wants to launch on a new marketplace, ChannelAdvisor can transform its product data feed to meet the requirements of a new channel.
“If I have a favorite feature, it’s the ease of onboarding to other marketplaces,” said Ritter. “Somebody like Newegg comes along and we can start selling on the marketplace much more quickly than we would be able to without ChannelAdvisor. You’d love to think you’re on top of everything, but that’s not the case. ChannelAdvisor regularly brings us industry updates and changes that we didn’t know about.”
