Confessions of a Catalyst Addict: “Why I Come to Catalyst Every Year”

So many e-commerce conferences, so little time. How to decide which events are truly worth attending?

Which conference is going to connect you with the industry’s biggest influencers?

Where can you go to get the most up-to-date insights and trends?

How can you be certain you’ll have opportunities to network with potential partners that can move your business forward?

For BHFO.com, the answer is easy: Catalyst Americas offers all of the above — and so much more. According to BHFO.com President Jon Sefton, there’s simply no match for the level of exposure to prospective partners and incredible ideas from industry leaders. It’s the e-commerce event of the year.

That’s why six members of Sefton’s team will be attending Catalyst Americas 2018, which will be BHFO.com’s eleventh consecutive conference. Here’s what he had to say about the event:

What’s the #1 reason you continue to attend year after year?

We get more out of Catalyst than any other conference we attend!

From your perspective, what are the biggest benefits of attending Catalyst Americas?

The information is directly related to our business and addresses our current needs. We also gain many new insights from networking with like-minded businesses, and from the great keynote speakers each year.

(Catalyst Americas 2018 keynotes will feature top executives from Uber, L2, FedEx, Pitney Bowes and Recode as well as the UnMarketer and the Retail Prophet. See them all here.)

If you had to name one thing you’re most excited about for Catalyst Americas 2018, what would it be?

Being able to bring additional team members to share in the excitement and knowledge consumption.

(Quick tip: Did you know? The more people you bring to Catalyst Americas, the less you pay. Registrants automatically save as much as 25% for teams of three or more.)

How do you decide which breakouts and workshops to attend?

We divide and conquer by each member’s job role and skills. Each member will take notes and present to all team members so we all can get insights from many more workshops and breakouts than we can physically attend individually.

What was the biggest takeaway from last year’s conference?

The rise of Amazon and what we were to expect moving forward.

(Quick tip: This year’s Amazon workshop will feature inside tips from the marketplace giant’s senior sales manager for Sponsored Products. Space is limited and pre-registration is required.)

For first-timers, what tips do you have for getting as much as possible out of the conference?

Stop by every booth. Do not miss any keynotes. Attend the workshops that pertain to your specific needs and ones that will address your future growth. Networking is the biggest must-do. We all may have different business models but we all tend to share the same issues, challenges and goals.

And make sure you spend quality time with ChannelAdvisor staff! This is the one time all year where you’ll be face-to-face. You will definitely learn more working with staff on-site.

Thank you, Jon, for these incredible insights! It’s always an honor to hear how ChannelAdvisor Catalyst helps sellers like you all year long. We can’t wait to see you next week in San Diego!
