Thursday, July 23rd after the market closes, Amazon will announce their Q2 results. This comes on the heel’s of eBay’s Q2 that showed a slight acceleration in GMV growth (6%), but a decrease in active buyers, so a bit of a mixed bag. ChannelAdvisor’s SSS growth y/y for Amazon for Q2 came in at 24% and e-commerce according to ComScore is growing at 15%, so it will be interesting to see how Amazon comes in against those baselines.
Last Q, Q1 2015, Amazon’s EGM GMV grew at 29%.

Active users in Q1 were 278m and grew 14% which was a bit of a slowdown. Like eBay, we watch active buyers very closely for Amazon as that tends to be the best indicator for how the next year is going to go. Amazon’s Prime Day was in Q3, so we won’t see any ‘bump’ from that this Q, but we’ll be watching that in Q3.
