Each month, millions of Instagrammers tap tags to view product descriptions and prices, and often click “Shop Now” to be taken directly to the seller’s mobile site.

Now, consumers will be able to purchase products right within Instagram itself — without ever having to leave the app. Checkout on Instagram is a huge step forward in helping sellers meet consumer expectations for quick and convenient transactions.

How Checkout on Instagram Works

When you enable Checkout on Instagram, you’ll be directing Instagrammers to an in-app shopping experience — instead of taking them to an external website. When consumers tap your product to view more details, they’ll be given the option to place an order directly on Instagram. 

After a purchase has been made, Instagram will keep your consumer updated on order status and estimated delivery date, and secure payment credentials for future purchases. Users can even cancel orders, initiate returns and request support through the app.
