What better way to close out Catalyst than hearing from one of the biggest names in e-commerce: Amazon.
Rob Green, director and general manager of Amazon Business, took the stage to share details about Amazon Business.
Amazon is known for its large selection, great prices and convenient shopping for consumers, but it also sees a big opportunity to offer the same benefits for businesses and government entities of all sizes.
You may remember that last year Amazon shut down AmazonSupply, its B2B e-commerce site, and replaced it with Amazon Business.
Amazon shoppers can now identify themselves as “business” shoppers, giving them access to specialized features (payment and delivery options), as well as bulk pricing in instances where sellers have made it available.
Rob focused his keynote on two areas: Amazon Business customers and Amazon Business sellers.
Amazon Business Customers
According to Rob, thousands of new Registered Business Accounts are added every week. Hundreds of thousands of businesses now have accounts. It’s a far cry from the 300 million on the Amazon marketplace, but it’s a great start, he says.
The types of business customers range across a wide spectrum, but the top five categories are industrial manufacturing, technology, education, business services and healthcare services.
They’re just customers “looking for that Amazon experience.” Amazon loves its customers, so it’s trying to beef up features related to delivery flexibility, payment methods and procurement system integration and customer support.
Amazon Business Sellers
Tens of thousands of sellers have now accessed the Amazon Business Seller feature set, and there are millions of offers on the platform with business pricing.
The Amazon team has created pricing features that allow business sellers to distinguish themselves on the marketplace. Sellers can offer quantity discounts or pricing specifically for businesses.
Basically, it’s the same Amazon you love, just with some slight tweaks. Rob said that he hopes it’ll create increased opportunities for sellers.
That’s All, Folks!
After Rob left the stage, Link Walls came on to close out the conference and send one lucky attendee on an all-expenses paid trip to Aruba (congrats, Janine with Henahan Enterprises!).
What a jam-packed three days it’s been. We hope everyone’s had a great time learning, networking and future-proofing.
That’s a wrap on Catalyst Americas 2016! See you next year!
