Cyber Five Frenzy: Ship Free & Fast and Go Mobile with Marketplaces

To help all retailers prepare for the holiday rush, we kicked our blog into high gear, sharing several holiday preparation tips as we lead up to the holiday season. We want to make sure you’re covered from all angles, so two tips per post — one on digital marketing and one on marketplaces — and two blogs per week. Marketplaces Tip #12: Ship free and ship fast

Shoppers have come to expect and rely on fast and free shipping. In fact, according to a Harris poll, 81% of shoppers still list “free shipping” as a top reason to buy online instead of at a brick-and-mortar store.

Our internal experts recommend that even if you have to raise a product’s price to offer free shipping, it’s worth it. If you’re not sure how much to raise it by, just average the shipping costs for the furthest distance and the closest distance, and it will likely average out.

Digital Marketing Tip #12: Go mobile with marketplaces

As you probably know, more and more people are shopping on their mobile devices. According to comScore, online marketplaces Amazon and eBay continue to have the highest number of mobile visitors, compared with other retailers.* This means that if your products are listed on these marketplaces, they’re automatically included within the sites’ mobile results. Why not save the money you’d spend developing your own mobile app (and advertising to push traffic to your app) and see how your marketplaces traffic performs instead?
