Instagram has announced on its blog that it will be introducing an in-app checkout feature! The feature is currently in beta rollout in the US, but is a very exciting step forward, especially for brands and retailers who are leveraging a social strategy to increase conversion.
In this latest development, users who tap to view a product from a brandās shopping post will see a āCheckout on Instagramā button on the product page. They can then tap it to select from various options such as size or colour. They can then proceed to payment (credit card or PayPal) without leaving Instagram. Consumers will only need to enter their name, email, billing information and shipping address the first time they check out. Once the first order is complete, all information will be securely saved for convenience the next time they shop. Instagram will also provide notifications about shipment and delivery right inside the app.

ChannelAdvisor is an official partner of Instagram. As this program expands and becomes more widely available, brands and retailers will be able to work with ChannelAdvisor to integrate the new feature.
