Item specifics tell buyers what you’re selling. They are crucial to your search visibility and sales, helping surface your listings to the right buyers. eBay has identified item specifications that buyers search for when looking for products and have aligned the way they search to the names of some item specifications to reflect this.

From 30th of September 2019, eBay will start requiring the most important item specifics for listings in certain Home & Garden and Fashion categories.

This means that you will not be able to create new listings in ‘Home & Garden’ or ‘Fashion’ categories without the required item specifics. Relisting or revisions to existing listings will also be denied if they are missing the required information.

So you don’t miss out on views and potential sales, make these changes to existing listings where applicable and any new or revised listings before the 30th of September.

What are item specifics?

If you’re not already in the loop, eBay focuses on item specifics to assist in identifying the products that you’re selling. Item specifications include, but are not limited to:

  • Brand
  • Make
  • Model
  • Size
  • Colour
  • Style

Adding these details can help sellers increase the visibility in search and better connect the listing with the right buyer.

The benefits:

  • Greater visibility on eBay
  • Improved search ranking
  • Enhanced shopping experience
