December 15, 2010 The Ronald McDonald House and ChannelAdvisor Partner For Second Year to Provide Families Holiday Gifts
Research Triangle Park, NC – December 15, 2010 – Once again, ChannelAdvisor is celebrating the holiday season by teaming up with the Ronald McDonald House of Durham, making the season a little brighter for the families living at the House while their children receive medical treatment at nearby health facilities. ChannelAdvisor, a software provider that helps retailers sell online, will host a “Holiday Toy Store and Shopping Experience,” providing gifts, gift-wrapping, baked goods and holiday cheer for Ronald McDonald families on Monday, December 20th from 12:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. EST.
“Last year our families were overjoyed and thankful to have the burden of shopping lifted, especially since ongoing medical costs and living expenses left many of our families stretched thin during the holidays,” said Scharmen Konieczka, annual fund director of the Ronald McDonald House of Durham. “The team at ChannelAdvisor has opened their hearts and their wallets again this year to help out our families, and we’re very grateful for their continued generosity.”
In 2009 ChannelAdvisor adopted the Ronald McDonald House of Durham as its company-wide philanthropy, and employees quickly jumped on board, volunteering their time and talents at the House throughout the year. The Holiday Toy Store and Shopping Experience was created out of this collaboration as a way to provide holiday toys to the families, for both the sick children and their siblings, as they cope with the challenges of their situation. Expecting approximately 50 children and their families this year, the ChannelAdvisor team has been collecting toys for more than a month in preparation for the event.
“Spending time with these families last year, speaking with them and learning how remarkable each of their stories is left a lasting impression on all of us. We gained a real appreciation for everything they’ve sacrificed to give their children the best care possible,” said Scot Wingo, CEO of ChannelAdvisor. “We are fortunate to have another opportunity to share the spirit of the season with these courageous children and their resilient families, and to do our part to help ease the difficulties they face during this time of the year.”
ChannelAdvisor and the Ronald McDonald House of Durham are grateful to the following for their toy donations to the Holiday Toy Store: the Proctor Family, the Spizzo Family, The Durham Electrical Contractors Association and The Dancing Butterfly Foundation.
