Careers: Living in Berlin: Germany

One of the two ChannelAdvisor GmbH offices in Germany is located in the very heart of Germany’s capital city Berlin.

"All free men, wherever they may live, are citizens of Berlin, and, therefore, as a free man, I take pride in the words ‚Ich bin ein Berliner!“ With these unforgotten words J. F. Kennedy famously showed his compassion for the Berlin people and their beautiful city.

Each year thousands of visitors come to Berlin and find a city with many faces. A diverse culture of old and new, tradition and trend make Berlin a place for everyone. No matter what your age or taste, Berlin offers world class art, music, fashion, club culture, lifestyle and shopping, along with Museums, historical buildings, beautiful parks and lakes.

Berlin has over 170 museums, making the city one of the world’s prime locations for superb historical collections of art, culture and technology, along with scientific collections.

If you want to get away from the big city lifestyle though and enjoy the nature and history of the Brandenburg area; a trip to Potsdam, the city of palaces and gardens is highly recommended.

Potsdam, is just outside Berlin and only 30 minutes away by train from Berlin’s Hauptbahnhof/Lehrter Bahnhof. Over the course of 400 years the rulers of Brandenburg and Prussia commissioned the best architects and artists of their time to create a fascinating ensemble of palace and garden complexes. In the 19th century the garden architect Peter Joseph Lenné combined the palaces and gardens in the residency of Potsdam to a garden landscape stretching from Sanssouci to Pfaueninsel (Peacock Island) in Berlin. In 1990 UNESCO put this unique cultural ensemble on the list of World Cultural Heritage sites. Today visitors to Potsdam can embark on a remarkable trip back in time through the history of art, culture and architecture of this unique period.
